Avetec is the flagship building in Springfield’s new Nextedge Applied Research and Technology Park. Avetec’s facility reflects prairie-style architecture, while incorporating sustainable site development principles. Included in the development is bio-filtration for storm water runoff, use of native plant materials, and re-establishment of 22 acres of Midwestern prairie. Storm water management was a design challenge addressed by the 5-acre naturalized pond, also an aesthetic feature of the site. MSI developed the long-term Master Plan and the detailed site plan for the entire Nextedge development.
