Transportation improvements have come to the forefront of urban thought as cities across the nation look to rebuild aging infrastructure and add transportation options for the future. Cities are working to correct the damaging effects that unchecked highway construction inflicted on downtown areas throughout earlier decades through design enhancement tools. As such, urban design has become an integral part of the planning for transportation networks. MSI Design has been at the forefront of this effort, closely collaborating with local, state and federal agencies to develop urban solutions to the impact of large-scale highway projects for nearly two decades. Our services range from overall conceptual design, to specific design enhancements of downtown streets, to in-trench improvements for highway projects. Perhaps most importantly, we are able to clearly and understandably communicate design solutions to the public, which is necessary to both satisfy the diverse constituencies within any urban environment as well to meet the prescribed agency review standards. Improving cities is our passion and these people-scale approaches to transportation improvements are a big part of the solution.
