MSI is working with the Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District (SID) in Downtown Columbus, Ohio to create a Downtown Public Realm Enhancement Study. Through a collaborative process, this study identifies creative and activating concepts for areas within the right-of-way of the SID boundaries that can be implemented in the next five years. Improvements being considered include pocket parks, public art, pedestrian scale lighting, outdoor dining, signage, street furniture, bike infrastructure, and crosswalk treatments. While inspirational and forward-thinking, the resulting concepts take into account the practical realities of budget, constructability, and maintenance. Working together with the SID, MSI is creating a report and graphics package that includes images and concepts that capture the imagination and can be used to build consensus and cultivate funding support for these projects.
