The Franklin University Master Plan aims to create a more cohesive campus that meets the modern needs of today’s university students, faculty, and staff. The plan provides two distinct options for an expanded campus to allow for strategic negotiation of land acquisition. Each concept is carried through a phased implementation process to guide and unify Franklin University’s physical form through the next decade. The plan builds upon Franklin University’s strength of educating working adults. It assists the university with its targeted growth avenues in on-line, off-site, and international programs through improved design, function, and physical organization of the main campus. MSI Design was careful to include short and long-term components that address these critical needs and attract students to the campus while better identifying and anchoring Franklin University in downtown. The plan also works to integrate the campus into the surrounding urban fabric by considering the major public projects planned in the vicinity.
