The City of Groveland is a historic Florida community seeking to enhance its community core through improvements to its once-thriving downtown district. The city’s Community Redevelopment Agency hired MSI to create an overall master plan. Prior to the master plan process, there was a vision, but no agreed-upon approach for creating a high-quality pedestrian environment. Working with the City’s steering committee, MSI has developed a concept for an improved downtown core that includes enhancements to the existing business district and the development of a new city square. MSI was responsible for master planning, landscape guidelines, community involvement and the creation of a master plan book. Throughout the master plan process, streetscape improvements were carefully detailed to provide an approach for the next level of cohesive design improvements in the district.
