Designed as a tribute to Mary and Grace Innis, the Sisters’ Garden is dedicated to “nurturing the nature of the child in everyone”. The 2.5-acre master plan utilizes existing site features and enhances them with site-sensitive plantings, structures, walkways, and play spaces that expose children to the natural world. The Sisters’ Garden includes an apiary, butterfly meadow, and a turtle formed by a rolling hill. The child-scaled garden rooms are connected by a winding, looped path, and offer engaging activities, each with a specific theme and lesson. The challenge was met in designing a garden for family interaction and togetherness, where the experience of discovery is simultaneous between children and their parents.
