This portion of High Street is the front door to Ohio State as well as the core of the University District. Over time, High Street has lost the pedestrian-scaled character that is vital to serve the needs of the students, employees and visitors to the University District. This planning effort worked to reverse this trend by establishing a proper scale to the roadway and by reestablishing the traditional nature of the street grid. The design challenge was creating a simple, quality design approach that can establish an identity for the district and the university, while satisfying the durability requirements for use by this enormous student population.
